Video Tube v1.6 - What's New

Video Tube has been undergoing a great deal of change as we gather feedback from users. This page is intended to share information regarding the enhancements and new features available in version 1.6
 
Submit A Video - Enhanced YouTube Search
Two (2) Admin-Preferences parameters have been added.

Search Results Per Page: You can now program how many search results you want to display per page when a search is performed. The default value is set to "20".

Search Results Display Format: This is an option parameter. The first option you are already familiar with is "Thumbnail Only". The other option is "Full Text" which displays several YouTube items associated with each video. These items include title, text description, author (YouTube submitter), number of views on YouTube, video duration (in seconds), publish date and publish time.

The submission search screen now displays total search results and the current search results page when a search is performed. Navigation buttons "Back" and "Next" are also provided for selecting which search results page you wish to view.
 
Embedding Disabled Identification
Added "format=5" parameter to search query so videos in which Embedding is Disabled will not appear in the search results.
 
Addition Of Categories
Categories have been added so you can sort and organize your videos, as well as making it easier for visitors to locate what they are looking for. A Preferences parameter is provided for enabling Categories. Admin area also provided for managing your categories (add, edit, delete, and display order).
 
Colored Border Option
Added Admin-Preferences parameters so you can enable border and designate colors to be used around the embedded player.
 
New Video Info Window For Embedded Player using JSON
More video data now displayed under embedded player, both local info and data retrieved from YouTube. A Display More / Display Less button is provided for expanding and collapsing the video data window.
 
Play Video Blocks Now Available
Play Video blocks can be placed on any page so the video can be viewed without leaving the current page. The three block types are Random, Latest and Most Viewed. A block parameter is provided so you can define the size of the video player in percent. When set to 100% the size of the player is 425px X 344px.
 
Submission Page Compatibility Issue with XOOPS 2.2.6 Resolved
The video submission page in version 1.5 used a module template but we discovered this template created a compatibility problem with XOOPS version 2.2.6 due to the way objects are handled. The result was failure of the module installation to complete successfully. This problem has been fixed and version 1.6 has been tested on both XOOPS 2.0.16 and XOOPS 2.2.6.
